Special Projects Funds
CBCC’s Special Projects will create funds for initiatives that directly help the community that are not supported by grants.
Read about the special projects below, pick whichever project you would like to contribute to, and donate to the funds here.
This program educates our community on the significance of watersheds, how their actions impact the environment, and effects of global climate change. Watershed lessons for youth are given through interactive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) lessons that include face-to-face instruction from CBCC staff and watershed professionals, activities, informative handouts, dioramas, and take-home watershed kits that collectively provide an immersive learning experience. Building on many years of watershed management, stormwater structure guidance and maintenance, this fund will support the maintenance of Coral Bay’s stormwater structures on main roads. Learn more about our past work on this here.
Since the 2017 hurricanes, CBCC has worked with grants and without to remove marine debris from Coral Harbor with the help of residents. This fund will support these continued efforts so that we can keep Coral Bay free of debris! In addition to helping facilitate the annaul Great Mangrove Cleanup, Coast weeks cleanup, and more, CBCC has also work on larger marine debris. Learn more about our past work on this here.

Why have you chosen these areas versus other ones?
CBCC has systems in place to support these projects because they are current and past initiatives. We have worked on these projects and realize the importance of continuing to invest in them.
How can we learn more about the past work CBCC has done in these areas?
Read more about our work in Ridge to Reef Watershed Education Program, Stormwater Structure Maintenance, and Marine Debris Removal.
Check out our work this past year on our website’s homepage with the 2024 Year in Review.
When will you share updates on how fund money is being spent?
We will share updates in the CBCC newsletter and on our socials. Make sure you’re following us and signed up for newsletter below.
How often will work be completed using funds?
Work will be completed based on how much money is raised, and thus the availability of funds, and then on a rolling basis.
Will you be starting funds for projects not listed here?
We are exploring the possibility of starting additional funds. We must identify what is within our ability to effectively execute. Some areas are harder to fund due to necessary procedures such as granted permissions, permits, and territory or federal government management.
How long will you support these special projects?
We are piloting the project this year. At the end of the year, we will assess the level of support that each fund received. Based on this assessment, we will decide what funds to continue and what new funds to start.
